Why We Love It
1. Like New. This 1920s bungalow was completely renovated from top to bottom in 2010. So, everything is like new. You shouldn’t have to worry about replacing any of the “not fun to buy” stuff such as the furnace, hot water tank, or roof. Never ever in my life could I imagine having fun buying a furnace; I would much rather buy furniture and accessories.
2. Open Living. Today’s buyers are always asking us for open floor plans. All of the main living areas here blend nicely together, so nobody feels left out. Spaces are defined more by their furniture and flooring instead of walls, so you can be in the living room, dining room, kitchen, or eating area and see the rest of the rooms at the same time.
3. Blackhawk Road in Riverside, IL. Our sellers are not only sad to leave Riverside, but even more so, Blackhawk Road. This is a special street! The neighbors are kind and children run around between the houses with the charm of a neighborhood from almost a hundred years ago. An easy walk to downtown Riverside, the Metra station (only a 20 minute train ride to Chicago's Union Station!), award-winning schools, and new restaurants, like Sawmilly and La Barra Riverside . Harrington Park, one of Riverside's most popular parks..and site to Riverside Little League games and Riverside Parks and Recreation activities, is just down the block.
Riverside is also home to several special events throughout the year, including...RAW ( Riverside Arts Weekend), the local Riverside Farmer's Market, Frederick Law Olmsted Society's Hop Stop, Riverside Chamber of Commerce's Annual Holiday Stroll, Fourth of July Concert and Parade, car shows and much, much more!
Over the past 130 years since incorporation, Riverside has matured into a beautiful, vibrant "Village in the Forest." Many of the original elements of Olmsted's plan, including expansive green parkways, gas-lit street lanterns, and curvilinear streets, are still intact, and as a result, the Village has enjoyed a National Historic Landmark designation since 1970.
